INVESTIGATION IN MISSING KOSSE CHILD CONTINUES; LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS MEET TO POOL INFORMATION.

The investigation into the case of a missing Kosse two-year-old, Desiree Carroll, continues.

Last Thursday, March 31, law enforcement officers, who have been involved in the case, met in Limestone County Courthouse to pool their information.

The meeting was called at the request of Limestone County Sheriff Dennis Walker. In addition to Walker, others attending were Limestone Deputies Sgt. Dennis Wilson, Lee Turrubiarte and Jack Avirett, Game Warden Gaylan Alewine, Falls County Sheriff Larry Pamplin, and Deputy John Semeko, Falls County Constable Jimmy Mitchell, Sgt. Bob Prince of Company "F" of the Texas Rangers and Texas Ranger Jimmy Ray.

The officers discussed many detailed bits of information and also made various observations about the persons involved---- namely Ann Elizabeth Densman Carroll, mother of the missing child, and David Morris, with whom Mrs. Carroll and her daughters, Desiree and Heather, were living.

The officers discussed the peculiar religious beliefs on the part of Morris. Also was discussed the lack of emotion shown by the missing girl's mother and Morris. It was also noted by other members of Morris' family that arrived on the scene after the little girl had disappeared. Morris, Mrs. Carroll and their party left the house near Kosse last week to go supposedly to a motel near Waco to get away from what they termed as harassment from the volunteer searchers.

As stated previously, many different pieces of information were discussed by the officers. A more detailed report of this very interesting meeting will be carried in The Journal next week.

However, at the end of the two and a half hour meeting, Sheriff Walker said that the possibilities which are being explored are:

1. That their story is true, the child wandered off.

2.That the child was accidentally killed while being disciplined by Morris as the information gathered indicated that he disciplined the two girls a good bit.

3. That the little girl was given away.

4. That the little girl was sold for monetary value.

Walker stressed that those possibilities are not being explored necessarily in the order listed.

Most immediate action contemplated by officers was interrogation of Heather Carroll, under hypnosis which Constable Mitchell said he believed he could arrange with the father, Reggie Carroll. Carroll was to have picked up Heather from her mother on Thursday night of last week at a place in Waco.

Based on evidence surfaced in the meeting, County attorney Pat Simmons issued a search warrant permitting officers to enter the house near Kosse. It was pointed out during the meeting that even though the officers had been in the house they had not really searched it.

SEARCH CONTINUES TWO-YEAR-OLD KOSSE GIRL

As the Journal reached news deadline, no word had been recieved as to the where-abouts of a two-year-old Kosse girl who disappeared from her home, near Kosse about 1 p.m. on last Friday.

Hundreds of officers and volunteers from throughout the weekend searched for the little girl. Members of law enforcement agencies from Limestone, Leon and Falls Counties participated in the search. Also personnel from the National Guard Units in Mexia and Marlin and the Department of Public Safety joined in the huge search.

The search effort was somewhat hampered by a heavy rain on Saturday night. According to various media reports, officers are investigating the possibility of foul play.

The search area, known as "The Big Woods", a few miles southwest of Kosse and south of Highway 7 is described as dense with youpon and other brush amidst the thick trees.

The child, Desiree Carroll, who would have been three in July, was residing at the David Morris house with her mother, Ann Elizabeth Carroll and an older sister Heather, who is five.

The mother told officers she dropped the two children off at the lane leading to the residence about 1 p.m. as she proceeded to Marlin. Heather, the 5-year-old, walked toward the house, while Desiree followed the pickup she was driving, she said. The general supposition was that the child wandered into the woods.

Morris is said to be living at the house and caring for the place, which is a family estate. Mrs. Carroll and the children had been living with him for about 10 days, according to neighbors.

The child's father, Reggie Carrolll of Houston, arrived at the scene, about 2 a.m. Saturday. He said he and Mrs. Carroll had been divorced for about two years.

STILL MISSING

No additional information has been recieved on missing child Desiree Carroll who disappeared from her home near Kosse about 1 p.m.

The above photograph, which was taken in March of this year, has been placed on a missing child poster and circulated throughout the nation. The following information is included on the poster.

DESCRIPTION:

Age-- 2 1/2 years old.
Date Of Birth---- July 2, 1980
Weight-- Approximately 40 lbs.
Hair---brown
eyes--brown
Desiree is plump and curly haired.

She was wearing a blue turtle-neck sweater, brown coveralls and red tennis shoes.

Desiree was reported last seen by her 5-year-old sister as she ran after her mother's vehicle as it was leaving their house. The house is located in a heavily wooded area approximately seven miles south of Kosse, Texas. Hundreds of searchers combed the area for a week and no trace was uncovered. Any information concerning Desiree........

Does anyone have any additional information pertaining to this case? It seems like this poor little girl simply dropped off the face of the earth. This case for whatever reason haunts me and I have tried for the past few months to find any information regarding the circumstances of Desiree's abduction. I just came across this forum yesterday and read about how she originally went missing. Was there any further investigation surrounding her mother and the mother's boyfriend?

Hi RC. Welcome. I haven't found anything else myself, but I'm waiting to hear back news from 2 different sources I contacted, so I'll update when I do. I'm not even so sure that what was said happened to this little girl, is what happened. I won't know until I speak to someone who is knowledgeable about the case. Do you live in the area ??

I think she may be a good match for Baby Jane, I just should say a potential match, if it is proven that the scenario described in the articles never happened. The only reason that I doubt her being a good match, is I don't feel her sister would have lied about what happened, but you never know and until I hear something... I just have no idea.

Hello,
No I do not live in the area, I am actually on the west coast. I think one of the reasons this case struck me so much was the lack of information on where she went. I realize this is a long time ago but I have tried to look up the mother and father on the internet to see if they ever got anywhere with finding their baby. All I can find are dead ends. In fact before today I had no idea it was even written about in any newspapers. I do find it interesting that alledegedly the National Guard was even called on to search for Desiree, yet not one lead was ever found to where she may have gone? I wonder if her father ever extended the search after the initial fervor died down? I also find the reports of the mother showing little emotion, and dropping a two year old off to walk home horrible! Such a sweet faced little girl too.

Starless,
do you remember the article about the little girl that appeared to have wandered to a house or trailer from the woods? Another little girl that lived in a house pr mobile home saw this little girl and tried to find out who she was and where she came from. The girl in the house asked the lost girl if she wanted to talk on the phone and the little girl ran away again.

I can't recall where it was.
