The Tippecanoe County Coroner's office has identified the body of the man who had jumped from one of the floors in Hawkins Hall as a Purdue student.
According to Chief John Cox, of the Purdue University Police Department, the lab results confirmed that the man who was found dead is a student at Purdue.
Cox said the student has been identified and the coroner is awaiting to alert next of kin before releasing a name.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office released a statement today determining the cause of death for the man, who was found Tuesday.
According to the statement, "the cause of death of this individual is preliminarily listed as multiple blunt force injuries due to high velocity impact with the ground after jumping from one of the upper floors of the dormitory."
The name of the man has not been released yet.
According to the statement, the Tippecanoe Country Coroner "is in the process of confirmatory identification of the individual and no name will be released until that protocol is completed."
Jeanne Norberg, Purdue spokeswoman, said in an e-mail that fingerprints from a student believed to be missing are being compared today to those of the deceased in an attempt to confirm identification.
