news Skeletal remains found on Southwest Side: San Antonio, TX

http://www.chron.com/news/local_news...de-2424989.php

A man and his son taking a walk Sunday afternoon in a wooded area off Five Palms Drive discovered partially buried human skeletal remains, officials said.
San Antonio Police Department homicide Sgt. Larry Ripley said they didn't know if the remains were of a male or female and there was no identification found early in the investigation.
The remains were found around 3 p.m. in the woods across from a residential neighborhood just off of Ray Ellison Drive.
Investigators would likely be processing the scene long into the night, Ripley added.
He said the remains were too large to be a child but didn't want to speculate further. Detectives will comb through missing person reports and the medical examiner's office also will be working to identify the remains.

Police search for clues about human remains

http://www.ksat.com/news/Police-sear.../-/13s72cez/-/

SAN ANTONIO -
San Antonio police detectives and investigators with the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office continue to look for clues regarding a set of human remains discovered in a wooded area on the city’s Southwest side.
According a police report, a child playing with a BB gun Sunday afternoon noticed a ribcage sticking out of the ground near 5 Palms Drive and Fairmeade.
Once officers arrived, they also found a human skull nearby, the report stated.

Maria Castillo, who called police to the scene, provided a few more details about the discovery.
Speaking in Spanish, she described the remains as appearing to be from a child, about 10 or 12 years old.
Castillo said she saw a beige bag with bones and a human skull lying nearby, and but did not notice any clothing on the body.
She said a friend was among the first to discover the remains and called her to take a look, thinking they might be from a dog or other animal. But Castillo said she quickly recognized they came from a person.
Detectives, along with investigators from the medical examiner’s office, continued scouring the area throughout the day Monday.
They declined to release any additional information at the scene.

How could she tell, as Sgt. Ripley said the remains were too large to be from a child?

Any news on this unidentified person yet?
I am curious if this could be a child of that age (10-12 years old) mostly because I asked about 3 girls that age a while ago, from San Antonio, one is Jeanett Frances Perry 12, from Del Rio, missing since 1972, but no updates on the internet anywhere, and even the chief there never heard of her, or the other girls,Rita Ojeda 15 and Alyson Kantis, 16, San Antonio, same for NCMEC, not registered so apparently they are not on any missing list. If they are still missing... no idea, apparently no one knows.

I keep wondering how this woman could indicate the bones were from a person that age though.

Human remains found in a wooded area on Christmas Day are that of a woman who'd been missing since November, relatives said.
The skeletal remains found near Five Palms Drive and Fairmeade Street on Sunday afternoon are that of Paula Martinez Flores, 33, of San Antonio, according to her family. The Bexar County medical examiner's office has not released the cause or manner of Flores' death.
A father and son who were in the woods shooting the boy's new BB gun spotted the bones, according to a San Antonio Police Department incident report. After digging in the dirt with a stick, they determined a skull and ribcage were human and called 911, police said.
Flores' aunt, Alice Lopez, who lives in Temple, said her niece was last seen the night before Thanksgiving, when she got into a fight with her husband and left the house to stay with a friend.
Lopez said Flores' husband tried to report her as missing to police but was told that he couldn't, since she's an adult and left on her own accord. He reportedly posted fliers with her picture, and other relatives had been calling acquaintances to see if anyone had seen Flores.
Flores said police notified family members of the identification this week.
“We're kind of confused and shocked; we're more or less mixed about how it happened and why,” Lopez said. “We're not really celebrating (the holidays) at this point. We have no reason to celebrate.”
