Unidentified Skeleton, Found in North Carolina in 1974. Identified ???
LUMBERTON, N.C., TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 1974
Unidentified Skeleton Found Near Rowland ROWLAND - An unidentified skeleton left Robeson County by ambulance Monday, headed for the state medical examiner's laboratory and possible identification. The skeleton was found on the Doug Hammonds farm between 1-95 and N.C. 130 on rural paved road 2464. A corn combine operator discovered the shallow grave containing the body around 10 a.m. Little physical evidence, other than the clothing wrapped around the skeleton and some jewelry was available, but investigating deputies Leroy Freeman, Bill Stone and Wilbur Lovette say they expect some word from the medical examiner possibly by this afternoon.
