Remains discovered

Various media outlets in Kanawha County are reporting skeletal remains have been found near the Putnam and Mason County line along U.S. 35. This area had been the scene of a previous search for the remains of Carol Rhim who was murdered by her boyfriend, Nathaniel Lawton, who later shot and killed himself at his home in Institute back in January. Lawton is said to have dismembered Rhim’s body and placed pieces of it along U.S. 35. There has been no positive identification on the remains which have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
