Bones Were Man's
Portland/UPI The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office said skeletal remains found Tuesday near the Columbia County line have been determined to be those of a man at least 30 years old who died of a gunshot wound to the head.
However, the identity of the man, whose remains were found about 100 yards off Rocky Point Road west of U.S. Highway 30, is still not known.
A skull, kneecap, one rib and half a pelvis were found by a man inspecting the land about a quarter-mile west of the highway.
Sheriff's spokesman John Drum said searchers plan to return to the area to look for additional bones and evidence.

SKELETAL REMAINS DISCOVERED

Portland/ Authorities say the skeletal remains of a human were found Tuesday in a remote, wooded area in northwestern Multnomah County. Sheriff's spokesman John Drum said the remains were found about a quarter-mile west of U.S. Highway 30 about one-quarter up Rocky Point Road. He did not know who found the remains. The remains were taken to the state medical examiner's office to determine the sex of the victim and to attempt to determine the person's cause of death and identity.
